Suspect in fatal shooting
of school guard named

BY SHIELA GELERA

The suspect in the killing of a school security guard at Araneta Street in Barangay 36, Bacolod City, Sunday, has already been identified.

Senior Insp. Joefer Cabural, Station 1 chief, said yesterday that they already have the identity of the suspect, but he refused to divulge it pending the filing of murder charges against him.

Guard Michael Sombero, 43, of Brgy. Sum-ag in Bacolod, was shot in the head by his companion, Cabural said, and an old grudge or a dispute over gambling is being investigated by the police in connection with the shooting, he added.

He said Sombero had allegedly stabbed and injured a man last year, and had also been involved in gambling.

Investigators will also view a copy of the closed-circuit television camera near the scene of the crime, Cabural said.

Police investigation showed that Sombero and the suspect left the Metrodome Center, and crossed the street together. When they reached the other side of the street, the suspect pulled a gun, and shot Sombero.*SGG
