Cop dies from
loss of blood
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A 32-year-old police officer died Thursday night due to loss of blood reportedly, after his gun went off, while being grabbed by a suspect in Sitio Henares, Brgy. Aranda, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.

Police Officer 2 Paul Eusoya was declared dead on arrival at the Ignacio Arroyo Memorial District Hospital in Isabela, from injuries in his right thigh, Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, Negros Occidental police director, yesterday said.

Lirazan identified the suspect as Elloteri Maniego Cano, 45, who is now detained at the Hinigaran police jail.

Initial investigations of the Hinigaran police showed that Cano allegedly tried to grab from behind the 9mm Glock pistol of Eusoya, a member of the Isabela Police Station, after a reported misunderstanding.

Eusoya tried to prevent the suspect, who was reportedly under the influence of liquor, from taking his gun but it went off, hitting him in the thigh, PO2 Lyle Canizarez, investigator of the Hinigaran Police Station, said.

Canizares said they expect to file murder charges today against Cano before the Negros Occidental Provincial Prosecutor's Office.

A 9mm Glock pistol with a magazine containing 14 live ammunition, and a spent cartridge were recovered from the scene of the incident* GPB
