Ex-soldier among 6 nabbed
in buy-bust in Bacolod brgy
BY SHIELA GELERA

Six persons, including a former soldier, were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 in Bacolod City, at about 11:40 p.m. Thursday.

The subject of the buy-bust, Mary Jane Termil, “alias Bebeng”, 32, was nabbed after she handed to a police poseur-buyer, a small heat-sealed transparent sachet of suspected shabu, in exchange for P100 in marked money, police records show.

The police also apprehended Nelben Calanza, 34, of Canlaon City in Negros Oriental, Jomarie Tenebroso, 33, of Brgy. 2, Eduard Sail, 30, of Brgy. 35, Michael Javier Jr., 19, of Brgy. Taculing, and Diandro Dabao, 20, of Brgy. Mandalagan, all in Bacolod.

Senior Supt. Pedrito Escarilla, officer-in-charge of the City Police Office, said yesterday that Calanza, who was a private first class soldier of the 11 th Infantry Battalion before he went AWOL (Absent-Without-Leave), and five others, including the subject of the buy-bust, a student, and a call center agent, were subjected to drug tests at the Police Regional Office-6 in Iloilo City.

Escarilla said the chemist at the Provincial Crime Laboratory at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office was not available so they brought the arrested persons to Iloilo.

The police also recovered an elongated sachet of suspected shabu from Calanza. Several illegal drugs paraphernalia, and P800 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal sale of shabu, were also seized in the house, police records show.

The inventory of the items was witnessed by Barangay 2 kagawad Victor Aliguin, and reporter Benedict Entuna, the police said.*SGG
