BY ADRIAN NEMES

More retail stores will sell National Food Authority rice in Negros Occidental by the end of the year, Procopio Trabajo, manager of the agency in the province, said yesterday.

NFA records show that there are now 101 retail stores selling NFA rice in the province, 16 of them in Bacolod City.

Trabajo said there will soon be additional NFA outlets in the cities of Escalante, Silay and Sagay and in Hinoba-an.
In Bacolod City, NFA outlets will be put up in Barangays Alangilan, 34, Handumanan, Mansilingan and in Sitio Magsungay, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Trabajo said.

He said NFA, in cooperation with other government agencies in Negros Occidental continues to monitor warehouses for possible hoarding but said they have found none so far.

He said there is enough supply of rice in the province with the arrival of 88,000 bags or 4,400 metric  tons of Vietnam rice this month.

NFA rice is still being sold at P27 per kilo, and regular and well-milled varieties at P32 per kilo.*APN
