LOPTTA hosting Visayas

The Lopue’s Table Tennis Association (LOPTTA) is hosting the 2nd Visayas National Juniors Table Tennis Qualifying Tournament from July 25-27, with 80 participants from the Visayas Region participating.
         
The players are contesting  top honors in the Junior Boy's Singles 17 years old and under, Junior Girl's Singles 17 years old and under, Cadet Boy's Singles 14 years old and under, Cadet Girl's Singles 14 years old and under, Cadet Boy's Singles 12 years old and under, and Cadet Girl's Singles 12 years old and under, a press release from Leonito Lopue said.
         
Top junior players from host Bacolod City, and La Castellana, Hinigaran, and Isabela in Negros Occidental, and those from Cebu City, Iloilo City, Antique, are seeing action in the tournament, the press release also said..

Kami Mga Hubin-Boysen leads
non-rated bowling extravaganza

Kami Mga Hubin-Boysen led, with Bago City Strikers trailing them, in the ongoing 2014 Sports Communicators of the Philippines Non-Rated Trio Bowling Extravaganza at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.
         
After three rounds of competition, Boysen, managed by Sonny Elegado, led in the overall standing with 2,880 points, while the visiting Strikers, headed by Ric Abellar, were just seven pins behind with 2873..

St. Benilde, Lyceum
win in 90th NCAA

MANILA – St. Benilde and Lyceum yesterday pulled out contrasting wins to strengthen campaign in the senior’s men basketball of the 90th NCAA at The Arena in San Juan City.
         
St. Benilde blew hot and cold and hot again as it turned back a feisty Mapua, 79-72, to book its second straight victory while Lyceum overcame a faltering Emilio Aguinaldo, 73-67, to leapfrog to solo fourth spot with 4-1 record.
         
Skipper Mark Romero came through with a career-high 26 points, including five in the final three minutes, when the Blazers unleashed an 11-5 run to turn a one-point deficit into a win, their second straight after pulling the rug from under last year's runner up Letran, 85-71, last Monday..
