CyberCentre
opening moved

BY NIÑA NIDAL

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said the inauguration of the Negros First CyberCentre in Bacolod will be delayed until the end of September.

Marañon said its inauguration was supposed to be held this month but because of the unfinished installation of electrical connections, air conditioning and telephone systems, the inauguration date was moved.

“The date of inauguration of the cybercentre will also be adjusted to the availability of President Benigno Aquino III,” whom he invited to the event, he added.

Marañon said that the CyberCentre is only 95 percent completed. The provincial government had been receiving communications from Business Process Outsourcing companies, who want to lease space at the CyberCentre, he said.

Ubiquity Global Service has already started to occupy the CyberCentre and has installed its own equipment.
Once completed, the centre is expected to generate a total of 5,000 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs.*NCN
