Guv leads Capitol
strategic planning

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said he and the provincial government department heads did strategic planning for the 2015 targets of Negros Occidental, in Dumaguete City last week.

He said the planning covered the Negros First 11-point development agenda that includes Natural Resources Management, Economic Development, Good Governance, Reduction of Poverty, Optimum Health Care, Strong Support for Education, Food Security, I.C.T. Utilization, Roads and other Infrastructures, Social Services and Tourism Promotion.

The governor cited the need to strengthen the insurance program of the provincial government and livelihood opportunities for the poor.

They also discussed the Philippine Rural Development Program to be funded by the World Bank with Negros Occidental as one of the pilot areas.

The program will cover farm-to-market roads, the first of which will be the Bug-ang-Vergara road in Toboso town, he said.*
