Driver stabbed dead
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

His act of hitting a parked motorcycle with a stone cost a trisikad driver his life.

Trisikad driver Gregorio Aligarbes, 18, was found dead at 6:30 a.m. yesterday in Hacienda Cuaycong, Brgy. 20, in Victorias City, Negros Occidental. He succumbed to multiple stab wounds.

The suspect, identified as Joel Mirasol, a sugar mill employee, surrendered to the police, almost six hours after the body of the victim was found at a vacant in the hacienda.

On Saturday night, the victim, who was reportedly drunk, hit the motorcycle owned by Mirasol, 39, with a stone, that caused minor damage to the vehicle, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, Victorias City police chief, said.

When Mirasol confronted Aligarbes on what he did to his motorcycle, the victim, who was allegedly under the influence of liquor, allegedly hit the suspect with a stone, who retaliated by stabbing him several times, using a belt knife, Rapiz said.

Mirasol, who asked Rapiz for help to settle the incident amicably with the family of the victim, is now detained at the Victorias police jail.*GPB
