The police are still facing a blank wall on the identities of the suspects in the fatal shooting of a businessman at Mckinley Street, Panaogao, in Brgy. 4, Silay City, Friday last week, Supt. Jacob Crisostomo admitted yesterday.

Crisostomo, Silay police chief, said there were bystanders present when Alberto Amazona, 50, of Brgy. 4 in Silay, an agent of the 2Go Company was gunned down by one of the two motorcycle-riding men.

However, the bystanders could not identify the suspects as they were wearing jackets and helmets, Crisostomo said.

The victim’s wife, Leyne and his daughter, Kie, who were with him in their multi-cab at the time, are also having difficulties in identifying the suspects, he said.

Aside from the angle that the incident was business-related, the police is also looking into the possibility that grudges could have led the suspects to kill Amazona, Crisostomo also said.

The Silay City police has received information that Amazona had filed charges for qualified theft against a man, whose name they did not disclose.

Amazona’s family has assured the police of full cooperation after his burial.

Amazona died from a lone gunshot wound in the head at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital at about 5:30 a.m. a few minutes after he was shot.

Policemen recovered a cartridge of a .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene.*APN
