Send-off rite for Decena today
BY SHIELA GELERA

A send-off ceremony for Senior Supt. Larry Decena, Bacolod City Police officer-in-charge, will be held 5 p.m. today at the BCPO headquarters at Magsaysay Street.

Decena said he was informed of a coming relinquishment order for a change of command in the BCPO.

Acting Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya, Chief Supt. Josephus Angan, police regional director for Western Visayas, or his representative if he is not available, are expected to attend the turnover of command after the flag retreat, Decena said.

Angan had said that, in the absence of a police official with the rank of senior superintendent, an official second in rank at the BCPO, in this case, Supt. Armando Tubongbanua, will replace Decena as OIC.

The most significant accomplishment of Decena in over four months at the BCPO, was his campaign against illegal drugs, and the solutions of several robbery cases, he said.

He had been chief of some police stations in cities and towns in Negros Occidental and in other provinces in Western Visayas. Decena had also handled key positions in the police provincial offices of Negros Occidental and Aklan.

Decena, who has been serving the PNP organization for 31 years, will turn 56 on Saturday, the age for mandatory retirement of a police officer.*SGG
