The Commission on Higher Education awarded scholarships to eight students of the Foundation University in Dumaguete City, a press release from the school said.
The CHEd Full Merit grantees areLynn Ruth Cabuyoc (BSEd-GenSci),Jara Criztal Carballo (BSEd-Eng), Irene Marie Ibatan (BSAccy), Rena Marie Ramos (BSAccy), Jerome Reso-or (BSEd-Eng), Christian Serado (BSAccy), Ayessa Marie Solamillo (BSEd-Eng) and Darlene Zuniega (BSEd-Gensci), Glene May Lusares, dean of Admissions and Records, said in the press release.
As full merit grantees, the students, who are now in their sophomore year, will receive P15,000 every semester.
Lusares said the students applied for the grant last year after the abolition of the Priority Development Assistance Fund scholarships.
To qualify for CHEd scholarship, applicants must have aminimum grade point average of 90 percent in fourth year high school, a minimum of 90 percent in the NCAE General Scholastic Aptitude test. Their parents must also have combined annual gross income of not more than P300,000, the press release also said.
Priority courses are BS in Agriculture, Education major in Engineering, Math or Science, Accountancy, Biology, and Mathematics, the press release added.*
