USLS graduate ranks 9 th in LET;
engineering passers announced

Twenty new teachers from the University of St. La Salle passed in the January 2014 Licensure Examination for Teachers, with Katrina Quelyn Ureta Lamboson placing 9 th with an 86.20 percent rating in the elementary-general education level, a press release from the school said.

The results released by t he Professional Regulation Commission and the   Board   for Professional   Teachers showed that the USLS elementary teachers had two passers or a 66.67 percent national passing rate, and 85.71 percent (18 passers) for secondary teachers, the press release also said.

Meanwhile, several engineering graduates of the school also passed the Electronics Engineering Board Examination administered by the PRC early this month.

The Board passers are Paul Cesar Absin, Rudelin Arco, Alan Alfaro, Jan Edric Cubid, Kia Deocampo, Chester Mark Diosano, Marc Reynald Garcia, Ma. Evelyn Gomez, Princess Lamela, Archer Lobaton, Joselle Lorilla, Elva Moyong and John Martin Opina.

The Electronics Technician Board passers are Absin, Mark Stephen Cenas, Cubid, Deocampo, Diosano, Garcia, Lorilla, Moyong and Opina, the press release said.

The school had 56.52 percent passing rate for the ECE, and 71.43 percent for the ET with the national passing rates at 35.24 percent and 65.12 percent, respectively, the press release added.*

Cleft lip, palate
surgical operation on

Fifty-seven indigent patients from Bacolod, Talisay, Victorias, Cadiz, Kabankalan and Manapla in Negros Occidental, and Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental, will be the beneficiaries of the cleft lip and cleft palate surgical and medical mission to be held today until Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Health Center in Victorias City.

The patients have initially undergone screening and preparatory tests for surgery in the outreach mission initiated by Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District), who continues to tap private and public sector partnership for health and medical projects in his district and beyond, a press release from his office said.

The project is a joint effort of the Cranio Facial Foundation of the Philippines, headed by president and chief executive officer, Yolanda Abad, and chairperson Teresa Tongson, Smile Train Phils., Leisure Resorts World Corporation, the Betty Bantug Benitez Foundation, and Kaayong Lawas Foundation, in cooperation with the Victorias City government, through Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, the press release also said.

Benitez will provide local mobilization and logistical support, while medicines and other medical supplies are assisted by Senator Chiz Escudero.

BBBF executive director Mary Ann Duran-Dino said indigent families from communities near the Victorias Immaculate Health Center will also be beneficiaries of the free medical clinic tomorrow, and the pediatric clinic on Friday , the press release added.*

Drivers join
bloodletting in Silay City

The first bloodletting program for drivers and operators was held at the public plaza covered court in Silay City, Negros Occidental recently, a press release from the city said.

The activity was participated in by around 120 members of the drivers' associations KAPUSOTODA, SABAGTODA, SELTODA, SIPTDOC-MPC, SSAHTODA, LATODA, BATODA, SIHATODA, and SUCIPTODA, and attended by Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Anabelle Ortiz, Councilor Uldarico Penuela, bloodletting program coordinator Berly Astronomo, and personnel of the Philippine National Red Cross, Negros Chapter, and CHO, the press release also said.
