Woman robbed, shot

A 27-year-old woman, who tried to resist a robbery, was shot and injured Wednesday in Hacienda Nabal, Brgy. Talaban,Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

The victim, identified as Grace Repora, 27, of Purok Crusher, Brgy. 4 poblacion, Himamaylan City, sustained a gunshot wound in the right leg, police investigations show.

Repora was riding a tricycle, when she was waylaid and robbed at gunpoint by an unidentified suspect, who was wearing a bonnet, and riding a motorcycle.

In his report to Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, Supt. Simeon Gane, Himamaylan police chief, said the victim was divested of her bag containing an undetermined amount of cash, a cellular phone, and an ATM card.

Repora reportedly tried to prevent the suspect from taking her bag, and this prompted the suspect to shoot her in the leg, investigations of the Himamaylan police also showed.

Meanwhile, a suspect, who was denied bail for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002, was arrested yesterday by a police team led by Senior Inspector Romeo Vargas in Sitio Pinaisalan, Brgy. Poblacion, San Enrique.

The apprehended suspect was identified by Vargas as Jerry Suanico,61.

Vargas said Suanico was charged in court, for selling prohibited drugs.* GPB
