More livestock worth P1,065,750 were distributed by the Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office to raisers from nine towns and five cities as of this month.
They will replenish those that were killed during the cold spell in January and the devastation of typhoon Yolanda in November last year, Cathyrine Narez, livestock coordinator, said yesterday.
Narez also said that 25 carabaos valued at P34,950 each, were given to raisers from the towns of Murcia, Calatrava, Toboso, La Castellana, San Enrique, Pontevedra, Binalbagan and Hinigaran and in the cities of Kabankalan, Sagay, Talisay, Bago and Cadiz.


BIR to launch tax campaign
The Bureau of Internal Revenue will launch today its 2014 tax campaign in Bacolod City that it aimed at increasing tax awareness among taxpayers.
BIR Regional Director Myrna Leonida, said yesterday that the campaign that is themed “I love the Philippines, I pay my taxes right. It’s easy as RFP-Register, File, Pay”, will also serve as a reminder for taxpayers to file their income tax returns not later than April 15.
The campaign started in Manila in February and was successively launched in other areas in the country.


‘SSTONe won’t join
transport rally’
The Sentrong Samahan ng Tsuper at Operators-Negros said yesterday that that they will not join the planned nationally-coordinated rally of the United Negros Drivers and Operators Center on March 24.
Its secretary general Jesse Ortega said in a telephone interview that the UNDOC leadership has not invited them to the rally, and they do not know the exact agenda for it.
UNDOC secretary general Diego Malacad said Tuesday that they will stop plying their routes for about an hour on Monday next week to air their concerns, in the hope that the national government will hear them.
