BIR to launch tax campaign

The Bureau of Internal Revenue will launch today its 2014 tax campaign in Bacolod City that it aimed at increasing tax awareness among taxpayers.

BIR Regional Director Myrna Leonida, said yesterday that the campaign that is themed “I love the Philippines, I pay my taxes right. It’s easy as RFP-Register, File, Pay”, will also serve as a reminder for taxpayers to file their income tax returns not later than April 15.

The campaign started in Manila in February and was successively launched in other areas in the country.

At the launching of the campaign in Manila, Commissioner Kim Henares expressed hopes that this year’s tax campaign and public awareness program will translate to actual revenue collections that will lead to the attainment of the BIR’s target collection for the year, the BIR said.

Henares said the bureau is batting to collect P1.456 trillion by the end of this year to surpass their collection of P1.217 trillion in 2013.*APN
