Another Ceres Liner passenger bus figured in a collision, this time with a Nissan pick-up vehicle Tuesday night in San Enrique, Negros Occidental, where a priest and two others were injured, police said.
This was the third time this month that a Ceres Liner bus figured in an accident in Negros Occidental.
Two previous accidents in Hinigaran on March 4 and in Silay City on March 16, had claimed the lives of six persons and caused injuries to more than 30 others.
Senior Inspector Romeo Vargas, San Enrique police chief, said Rev. Fr. Ernesto Magillano, a priest assigned at Helvetia Heights in Bacolod City, and his driver, Eddie Gan, sustained injuries, after the Nissan pick-up they were riding, collided head-on with a Ceres Liner bus Tuesday night at the national highway of Sitio Asinan, Brgy. Bagonawa in the town.
The driver was identified as Mamar Estrella.
Injured also were Gan and John Neil Lindsay Dino, 17, a passenger of the bus.
Vargas claimed that Gan was under the influence of alcoholic liquor, when the accident took place.
Investigations of the San Enrique police showed that Gan, who allegedly lost the control of the vehicle, swerved to the left lane, and collided with the bus that was running in the opposite direction.
Vargas said the priest sustained a fracture in the chest and an injury in the leg, while Gan was also injured in the leg. Both are now confined at the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City.
Dino was brought to the La Carlota District Hospital. He is now in a stable condition, Vargas said.
He added that the priest and his driver had come from a birthday party in Sitio Guintubdan, Brgy. Ara-al, La Carlota City, before the accident.
Their white Nissan pick-up was heavily damaged, police investigations further showed.
Vargas said they released Estrella after the investigation on the incident.*GPB back
