The awarded biomass/power cogeneration projects of the sugarcane industry as of Dec. 31, 2013 could produce 281.82 megawatts of power when they become operational, a report from Sugar Regulatory Administrator Ma. Regina Martin showed yesterday.
Of the 19 mills with co-generation projects, nine are from Negros Occidental, with a projected capacity to produce 138.7MW.
The nine are the San Carlos Bioenergy - 8MW, First Farmers Holdings Corp. - 21MW, Hawaiian Philippines Co. - 8MW, Victorias Milling Co. - 18MW, URC-Sonedco Sugar Mill - 46MW, Binalbagan-Isabela Sugar Milling Co. - 19.5MW, Roxol Bioenergy Corp.- 4MW, Lopez Sugar Corp. - 10MW, and Sagay Central Inc. - 4.2MW.
Sugar mills in other parts of the country with potential co-generation capacity are Green Future Innovations Bioethanol Distillery in San Mariano, Isabela – 19MW, Central Azucarera de San Antonio in Passi, Iloilo - 15MW, Crystal Sugar Co. in Bukidnon - 21MW, Sweet Crystals Integrated Sugar Mill in Pampanga - 2.5MW;
Central Azucarera de Tarlac in Tarlac - 9.5MW, Central Azucarera Don Pedro Inc. in Batangas - 25.52MW, Capiz Sugar Central in Capiz - 5.8MW, URC-Bais in Negros Oriental - 9.4MW, HIDECO Sugar Milling Co. in Ormoc, Leyte - 11MW, and Busco Sugar Milling Co. in Bukidnon, 24.4MW, the SRA report showed.*CPG back
