‘Beauticians, barbers
in demand abroad'

Beauticians and barbers are the most in-demand jobs abroad right now, Director Ponciano Ligutom, of the Department of Labor and Employment Region 6 said yesterday.

The demand for these kind of jobs is high especially in the Middle East countries, Ligutom said.

There is also a high demand for hair dressers and those who are into the health and wellness sectors, he also said.

To help prepare the workers from Western Visayas, DOLE, in cooperation with the Technical Education Skills Development Authority, is holding skills training to enhance their capabilities.

Ligutom said that two years ago TESDA trained about 20,000 skilled workers.

He added that DOLE is also seeking the help of local government units in the promotion of the National Skills Registry System.

It will be easy to look for skilled workers whenever they are needed by a particular country if they are registered, he said.*APN
