About 50,000 job vacancies will be offered to residents of Western Visayas at the jobs fair to be conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment in several provinces of the region on World Labor Day.
Director Ponciano Ligutom of DOLE Region 6 said that of that number 40,000 are for foreign employment and the rest for local job vacancies.
Among the jobs being offered for foreign employment are for barbers, welders, household workers, electricians, carpenters, architectural helpers, grinders, nurses, health workers and security guards, Ligutom said.


Japanese group offering
P1.8M as yearly rent for prov'l property
The Japanese group that is interested in building a retirement hotel at the Mambukal Resort in Murcia, Negros Occidental, is offering P1.8 million as annual rent to the provincial government, for the use of the 1,700-square meter property, Board Member Salvador Escalante yesterday said.
They are proposing to construct a two-storey building and to demolish the Tourist Lodge, which is up already up for demolition, Escalante added.
“It is a mixed-use building, which is not solely for use by Japanese retirees, but also as a school for caregivers, with graduates to be sent to Japan”, he also said. 


Bulldozing of farms
in Capitol ranch hit
Farmers belonging to the Kahublagan sang Mangunguma sang Pilipinas yesterday slammed the provincial government of Negros Occidental government for what they called the use of brute force to bulldoze farms in Hacienda Ilimnan in Murcia town where the ranch of the province is located.
The group said in a statement sent by their Secretary General Felipe Levy Gele yesterday, that it also condemned the harassment of the farmers in Hacienda Ilimnan by members of government security forces such as the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police in the area.
