About 50,000 job vacancies will be offered to residents of Western Visayas at the jobs fair to be conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment in several provinces of the region on World Labor Day.

Director Ponciano Ligutom of DOLE Region 6 said that of that number 40,000 are for foreign employment and the rest for local job vacancies.

Among the jobs being offered for foreign employment are for barbers, welders, household workers, electricians, carpenters, architectural helpers, grinders, nurses, health workers and security guards, Ligutom said.

As for local employment there are vacancies for community facilitators for government agencies, accounting clerks, kitchen personnel, drivers, customer service representatives, promo merchandisers and barristas, he said.

Ligutom advised job seekers who will flock to the job fairs to be at the venue early and bring their requirements.

In Negros Occidental alone, a total of 1,467 job seekers joined the pre-registration last week for the j ob fair.

The jobs fair will start at 8 a.m. today at the Transport Hub of SM City Bacolod.*APN
