The Japanese group that is interested in building a retirement hotel at the Mambukal Resort in Murcia, Negros Occidental, is offering P1.8 million as annual rent to the provincial government, for the use of the 1,700-square meter property, Board Member Salvador Escalante yesterday said.
They are proposing to construct a two-storey building and to demolish the Tourist Lodge, which is up already up for demolition, Escalante added.
“It is a mixed-use building, which is not solely for use by Japanese retirees, but also as a school for caregivers, with graduates to be sent to Japan”, he also said.
This will be a Build-Operate-Transfer scheme, as the property will be returned to the provincial government after 25 years, Escalante said.
Once the memorandum of agreement is approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and signed by both parties, the investor will deposit an advance payment, he also said.
A group of investors is also offering to operate a hydro-power plant in Murcia, under three schemes – Build and Transfer (BT), direct contracting, and a joint venture, Escalante also revealed.
The proposal has been forwarded to the Negros Occidental SP to determine the option to avail of, he added.* GPB
