Bar 21 wins Game 1
in Ayala Club finals

Experience and familiarity played a major role as Bar 21/Seafood Island's beat MKK/Doromal Seeds, 71-66, in Game 1 of their best-of-three final series to inch closer towards a three-peat championship feat in the Ayala Basketball Club Interbarkada Tournament in Talisay City.

MKK/Doromal Seeds came out shooting in the first half as their balanced attack gave them the upper hand, 36-31, at halftime.

But Bar 21 organized themselves in the second half as Brod Hojilla, Philip Abong, and Tad Caperonce combined for 21 of their team's 23 third quarter points, resulting to a 5-point cushion going into the final quarter.

Tommy Andren of MKK took matters into his own hands at the start of the fourth quarter, scoring at will against taller defenders and cutting the lead to as low as two points with four minutes remaining.

Keeping their composure after Andren's onslaught, Bar 21 distributed the ball well as seven players scored, making it difficult for MKK to defend as everybody was a scoring threat inside the court.

Hojilla, Abong and Caperonce had 16 points apiece to lead Bar 21, while Tommy Andren paced MKK with 24 points.

Earlier, Toby's secured 3 rd place by edging DRJ Wellness, 80-78, Nikol Medina led all scorers with 26 points for Toby's while Jonart Versoza had 20, Marvin Tan and Benjie Gonzales and 16 and 10 points, respectively.

Chac Mirano top scored for DRJ with 20 points, Leon Bautista and JG Villeran had 12 each while Louie Yasay, Jed La'O, and JR Rombines contributed 10 points apiece.*NAB
