Was Kasadya paid
for plaza space?
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella yesterday said he has already ordered the removal of ukay-ukay (used clothing) vendors in the Bacolod Public Plaza at Gastuslao Street in Bacolod City.

He said half of the plaza, especially the area in front of the San Sebastian Cathedral is owned by the Church.

Puentevella said he told the ukay-ukay vendors to stop operating and that he will have the matter investigated.

Marfe Fernandez, organizer of the ukay-ukay, presented a receipt to ABS-CBN yesterday to show that they have paid “Kasadya Bacolod” a total of P300,000 that would allow them to sell ukay-ukay at the plaza from April 1 to June 1.

Fernandez asked that they be refunded the amount paid to Kasadya Bacolod after their structures were demolished, because the 32 exhibitors are also asking to be refunded their payments.

She said the first payment was made in January amounting to P150,000 and another P150,000 was paid last April 3.*CGS
