Negrense ER nurse
quarantined in Saudi

A Negrense nurse suspected of having the deadly Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Corona Virus (MERS-CoV) has been quarantined in the intensive care unit of the King Fahd Medical City in Saudi Arabia, her husband said yesterday.
Her husband, who asked not to be identified, told the DAILY STAR his wife, who is 44 years old, has been working in the emergency room of the King Fahd Medical City.
He is calling for prayers for the recovery of his wife.

Bacoleña: I was
raped, held up, too

A woman was held up and allegedly raped in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City, at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
The victim, 25, was on her way home from work when the man who was on a motorcycle suddenly approached, pointed a knife at her, and grabbed her shoulder bag.
Insp. Jinky Lou Ramos, chief of the Women and Children Protection Desk, said yesterday that the suspect then forced the woman to ride on his motorcycle and brought her to an area in the barangay, where he allegedly molested her.

2 farmers injured
in shooting

Two farmers reported to be members of a local chapter of the Kilusang Magbubukid sa Pilipinas, were injured in a shooting incident Saturday in Sitio Lumbia, Brgy. Camansi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, acting provincial police director of Negros Occidental, identified the victims yesterday as Albert Franciso Jr.,17, and Ray Bustamante,19, both farm laborers.
Lirazan said Francisco was hit in a finger of his right hand, while Bustamante, who is now confined at a hospital in Kabankalan City, was hit in the face.
