The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office No. 6, the Occupational Safety and Health Center, and the Safety Organization of Negros Occidental Inc. forged a Memorandum of Agreement Monday at the DOLE Office in Bacolod City.
The MOA allows the SONO Inc., comprising of accredited safety practitioners, consultants and safety officers in different companies in Negros Occidental, to conduct training and information dissemination, and provide technical services on Occupational Safety and Health to workers.
This collaboration between the DOLE, OSHC, and SONO will be a big boost in building the capability of OSH training professionals in the private sector.
The MOA signing was spearheaded by DOLE Regional Director Ponciano Ligutom and SONO officers and members headed by their president Helen Alagban.
Under the MOA, SONO will jointly conduct the training with the OSHC and the DOLE Regional Office utilizing only DOLE-accredited safety practitioners and/or consultantsas resource speakers on the 40-hour prescribed course, the Basic Occupational Safety and Health and Construction Occupational Safety and Health, preferablywith Training of Trainers on Occupational Safety and Health.*
