P3B investment set
for biz hub, marina

The Lancaster Hotels will pour in P3 billion worth of investments in Bacolod City for the construction of a business district in Brgy. Pahanocoy and an aquasport facility in Brgy. Tangub, its president and chief executive officer, Ronald Lim, told the DAILY STAR yesterday.
Of the P3 billion, P2 billion will be spent for the business district, to be called Hacienda Negros that will include a country club, condominium-hotel, office and commercial spaces, and a retail mall, Lim said.
For the aquasport facility called the Marina, that will feature activities like wake boarding, banana boat rides and kayaking among others, they will spend about P1 billion, he said.   |
Police official freed on bail

Supt. Jefferson Descallar, deputy city director for administration of the Bacolod City Police Office, posted bail of P40,000 yesterday afternoon at the Regional Trial Court in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, for charges involving delaying and bungling of the prosecution of drug cases.
Senior Supt. Larry Decena, Bacolod police officer-in-charge, said yesterday that he informed Descallar over the phone that he has pending warrant of arrest and he surrendered to him Wednesday afternoon.
Decena said that the warrant of arrest that was issued on Feb. 29, 2012 by RTC Branch 60 Judge Renato Muñez against Descallar, Police Officers 2 Jovito Bagayo Jr., and Henry Aguilar, came from the Police Regional Office-6 and was given to him on Wednesday.   |

The Government Service Insurance System has expanded its Home Emergency Loan Program (HELP) to aid victims of super typhoon Yolanda in 33 additional local government units, four of which are located in Negros Occidental, GSIS chairman Daniel Lacson Jr. announced yesterday.
HELP is a special loan program of the GSIS that seeks to enable its members to rebuild their homes and resume productive livelihood and employment activities in communities hard-hit by typhoon Yolanda.
Of the 33 additional LGUs covered by HELP, Lacson said the four in Negros Occidental are Victorias and Silay cities, and EB Magalona and Calatrava towns.   |
