Voters urged to check
registration records

The Commission on Elections in Dumaguete City is urging voters to check their registration records and make sure that their biometrics data are completed before the validation deadline on October 31, 2015.
Carmencita Cañares of the Comelec Dumaguete said those who do not have complete biometrics data will not be allowed to vote in the synchronized elections on May 9, 2016, even if he or she has voted in the last two elections.“It is imperative for those with incomplete biometrics to visit the Comelec for validation,” she added.
She said hundreds of voters do not have a computer-generated picture in their biometrics.Voters who have complete biometrics data are advised to wait for the arrival of their identification cards, Cañares said.
| Bacoleño to head Chief Supt. Prudencio “Tom” Bañas, the Human Rights Affairs Office chief of the Philippine National Police, is slated to replace Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino as the director of the Police Regional Office 7 in Cebu. Bañas, a Bacoleño, however, said yesterday that he has not yet received the official order for him to assume the PRO7 command. Constantino, a member of the PMA Class 1982, has been designated as chief of the Directorate for Police Community Relations, while Bañas is a graduate of PMA Class 1983. |
| Dumaguete SP okays The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dumaguete City approved an ordinance requiring all vehicles to stop before pedestrian lanes, and providing penalties for violations. The SP voted nine in favor with one abstention and one against, to approve the ordinance authored by Councilor Lilani Ramon, that also requires pedestrians to cross only on the signal of the traffic enforcer manning the street. The approval was delayed by questions on legality, and the possible duplication of a national law of similar concern. |
