| Nietes TKOs Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, one of the only two reigning Filipino world champions, retained his World Boxing Organization light flyweight title via a technical knockout victory against Moises Fuentes of Mexico in their rematch Saturday night at the MOA Arena in Pasay City. Learning so much from their first fight that ended in a majority draw in March last year, the Filipino champion decided to tire down the Mexican with an accurate combination and jabs to the head and to the body. Nietes downed Fuentes three times in the ninth round, forcing the referee to stop the fight at 2:26, to keep the title he won against Ramon Garcia Hilares of Mexico in October 2011. | ||||||||||||||||||
