Vice President Jejomar Binay reiterated that he is running for president in 2016 during his visit to Bacolod City Saturday.
“I will not be a hypocrite, as early as the day after the 2010 elections I said I would run for president. In the meantime during the intervening period we will work, there is time for politics,” he said.
Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., on Thursday, said he is endorsing Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas for president in 2016.
The governor announced his endorsement at a meeting with Roxas and officials of Negros Occidental, that included about 20 mayors, in Bacolod City.
When asked for his reaction, Binay said “He (Marañon) is entitled to say that. It is what he thinks, that's what he wants, we have to respect that.”
Asked if he had spoken with the governor, Binay said “I understand the governor is sick, I should have seen him today.”
On his arrival in Bacolod City Saturday Binay visited the Bacolod North Public Market and the Libertad Market, where he shook hands with vendors and shoppers.
Asked if he was already campaigning for 2016, Binay said “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder ‘di ba? So, whatever they would say that’s their opinion”
He said he has been going to the markets as part of his out-of- town activities.
On the Janet Napoles lists of senators and congressmen allegedly involved in the pork barrel scam, Binay said that, at the rate it is going now, the people are confused.
“I think that was the objective of having so many lists,” he said.
Now there are four lists, he noted.*CPG back
