An information technology firm is interested in putting up a branch at the Negros First CyberCentre as part of its expansion program, Bacolod City Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, said yesterday.
Sigue, chairperson of the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Educational Foundation for ICT, said that Wipro Philippines is evaluating the potential of Bacolod its third site
An IT firm specializing on health care, Wipro Philippines has two firms in Cebu and another one in Quezon City, its website showed.


NGCP ups Visayas
monitoring over shortage
The National Grid Corporation is strictly monitoring electricity supply in the Visayas, including that of Negros Island, with the expected power shortage in the area within the week, an official of NGCP said yesterday.
Rosette Martinez, NGCP corporate communications and public information officer for the Visayas, said there were no scheduled power interruptions for the Visayas as of 2 p.m. yesterday.
An NGCP report showed that the region may suffer at least 200 megawatts of power shortage this week.


‘PHL a trillion-dollar
economy by 2030’
The Philippines will be a trillion-dollar economy by 2030, according to the new analysis of the IHS, a partner of the World Economic Forum.
IHS, a leading source of information, insight and analytics for the global business, said the country will bolster a robust economy for the next decade; manifesting a remarkable transition “from pussycat into a tiger economy”.
“The Philippines economy has the capacity for robust long-term economic growth of around 4.5 percent to 5.0 percent per year over the 2016 to 2030 time horizon,” said Rajiv Biswas, Asia-Pacific Chief Economist, IHS.
