Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Arniel Ferrera of Cauayan town in Negros Occidental, dominated the men’s discus throw yesterday to snatch his second gold medal in men’s athletics of the 2014 Philippine National Games at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Ferrera of Philippine Air Force A, hurled the iron disc to a distance of 40.39 meters to beat teammate Julius Felicisimo Nierras and John Albert Mantua of Jose Rizal University who took the silver and bronze medals with 39.67 and 37.76 effort, respectively.
The veteran national campaigner captured his first gold medal in hammer throw last Sunday.
| Teams C, D post win in Team C of president Edwin Fregil pulled off a come-from-behind 82-77 win against the Bong Ibe-led Team B, while Danny Chua’s Team D beat Team A of Jun Ballesteros, 94-83, at the opening of the Your Basketball Athletic Club Inter-color Basketball Tournament at the West Negros University gym, a press release from YBAC said. After falling behind in the first three quarters, Team C rallied in the last four minutes of the final quarter and nailed an equalizer for the first deadlock of the game at 69-all. Rolly Buenaflor placed Team C ahead at 72-71 but Pedrito Rosales reclaimed the lead as he scored to peg the score at 73-72, the press release said. |
