Ex-barangay chairman Noel Ayalin, a suspect in the 2011 massacre of barangay officials in Brgy. Kapitan Ramon, Silay City, has asked for forgiveness for what he had done to his victims, and is ready to admit it, Supt. Jacob Crisostomo, Silay police chief, yesterday said.
Ayalin even requested for a priest, who listened to his concerns, while he was detained at the Silay police jail, Crisostomo said.
He was transferred yesterday afternoon to the Bacolod City District Jail, in compliance with the commitment order issued by Silay Regional Trial Court Judge Felipe Banzon, Crisostomo said.
Ayalin is facing four counts of direct assault with murder, three counts of attempted murder, and two counts of attempted homicide, police said.
Crisostomo said the family of Ayalin has requested that he be detained, either at the Bacolod District Jail, or the Provincial Jail in Brgy. Tabunan, Bago City, for security reasons.
Armando Occena, father of slain Sangguniang Kabataan chairwoman Imee Occena, who was among the barangay officials of Kapitan Ramon massacred on March 6, 2011, said Sunday that he cannot forgive Ayalin for what he did to his young and innocent daughter, who was only 16 at the time.
Crisostomo said Ayalin told him that he is ready to accept whatever will be the decision of the court.
Ayalin was arrested Thursday last week by the police in Iba Zambales, more than three years after the Kapitan Ramon shooting rampage.
He was denied bail by the court on the murder charges.
Crisostomo said Ayalin claimed that an informant in Silay had tipped the authorities about his presence in Zambales.
There is no word yet as to who will receive the P800,000 reward for giving the information that led to the arrest of Ayalin.*GPB back
