Vice President Jejomar Binay, chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, will be guest of honor and speaker at the awarding program and signing of a memorandum of agreement with Negros Occidental third district local government units and the Social Housing and Finance Corporation for the Localized Community Mortgage Program today.
The program will be held at the Don Esteban de la Rama Hall of the Talisay City Hall at 1 p.m., a press release from the office of Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District), said.
Expected to attend are local government officials and housing stakeholders of the Third District, and awardees from various parts of the province.
Neg. Occ. Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Benitez are slated to give messages, the press release said. Benitez is chair of the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development of the 16th Congress.
The governor who was nursing a bad cold yesterday said he will not be able to attend the affair.
Marañon, who had earlier announced that he is supporting Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas for president in 2016, denied that he was snubbing the vice president, he said he needed to rest because he was not well.
He also said he had not been invited to a meeting between Binay and Negros Occidental mayors today.
Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano, Talisay City Mayor Eric Saratan, E. B. Magalona Mayor David Albert Lacson and Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca will sign the LCMP MOA with SHFC president Ana Oliveros.
The Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board will also award nine LGUs for their Comprehensive Land Use Plan Zero Backlog Project, the press release said.
The National Housing Authority, under its Housing Materials Assistance Program will also give checks to five LGUs affected by Typhoon Yolanda.
SHFC will award checks to six Community Mobilizers as post take-out fees, as incentives for regular CMP projects and also give recognition to 26 Community Associations for their Collection Efficiency Rate and a private land-owner who offered land for a CMP project, the press release said.
After the MOA signing, Negros Occidental’s Third District will become the first district-wide SHFC partner in the country.
Benitez assured full support for the program as his District Office continues to facilitate fora for sharing of best practices to address housing and shelter problems and concerns, the press release said.
A media advisory from the office of Binay said he will lead a community walk around the Provincial Capitol Grounds in Bacolod City at 6 a.m. today and at 9 a.m., he will speak at the opening program of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines' Annual National Council Meeting at L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City.*
