A Bacolod resident was sentenced to life imprisonment for illegal possession of drugs yesterday.
Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 47 Judge Therese Blanche Bolunia found Franco Siscar Jr., alias Junjun, guilty beyond reasonable doubt of possession of dangerous drugs and sentenced him to life imprisonment and to pay a fine of P400,000.
She also found him guilty of possession of equipment, instruments, apparatus and other paraphernalia for dangerous drugs and sentenced him to six months and one day as minimum, to three years as maximum imprisonment, and to pay a fine of P10,000.
The judge ordered that Siscar be committed to the national penitentiary for the service of his sentence.
The court was told that the police had received information that Siscar was selling shabu at Block 54, Lot 3, of Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision in Bacolod City.
After a monitoring and surveillance operation that confirmed such activity, the police applied for a search warrant that they served on Siscar at his residence on May 1, 2006, the court was also told.
This resulted in the recovery of five big heat sealed transparent bags containing shabu and drug paraphernalia, the police said.
The judge noted that Siscar interposed denial and hinted at planting of evidence.
But the judge said “it would be incredulous for the police to plant 12.27 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride on the accused.”*CPG
