Grandsons kill septuagenarian
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A septuagenarian, who tried to pacify his quarrelling grandchildren and their uncle in Brgy. Punta Salong, Manapla town, Negros Occidental, ended up being killed.

Romeo Ramirez, 73, died after he was struck with a piece of a bamboo and the butt of a homemade shotgun in the head and other parts of his body by the suspects, identified as Rene Boy Samanon, his two brothers, Jomar and Marlon, Senior Inspector Edencio Gregorio, Manapla police chief, yesterday said.

Gregorio said Rene and Jomar surrendered to the Manapla police the next day, and are now detained at the Manapla police jail, while Marlon, remains at-large.

The three Samanon brothers are now facing parricide charges.

Gregorio said old grudges triggered the conflict between Gaspar Ramirez and his nephews.*GPB
