PACE  asking prov’l board:
Back salary standardization

The Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees yesterday asked the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental to pass a resolution supporting the proposed Salary Standardization Law IV.

The request of PACE was endorsed by Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, who presided over the regular session of the SP, to the Committee on Personnel, which aims to make the government compensation system competitive with the private sector.

The proposed Salary Standardization Law IV, authored by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, aims to make the government compensation system competitive with the private sector.

During the regular meeting of its board of directors on May 13, PACE, an organization of 2,400 Capitol employees, unanimously approved a resolution supporting the proposed Standardization Law IV for public sector workers.

As stipulated under Senate Bill 1689, or the proposed Salary Standardization Law 4, the government shall adopt an omnibus compensation and position classification system for civil servants and military and uniformed personnel.

The bill seeks to raise the base pay of the lowest government rank, Job Grade 1, to P16,000 from the present rate of P9,000.

The base pay for military and uniformed personnel, meanwhile, ranges from P23,000 for a private to P282,800 for a four-star general.

PACE, a signatory to the petition for salary increases in the recent National Workers Congress, said it believes in the power of legislation, and therefore appeals to the SP to pass a resolution supporting the Salary Standardization Law IV.*GPB
