Child struck with stone
BY JENNY SERFINO

A man allegedly struck the head of a 3-year-old boy with a stone at the Bacolod City Public Plaza in Brgy. 12, at about 7:55 a.m. yesterday.

The victim, whose name the police withheld for being a minor, was walking with his mother along Gonzaga Street when the incident took place, Insp. Jinky Lou Ramos, chief of the Women and Children Protection Desk, said.

The victim was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Ramos said.

The suspect, believed to be mentally ill, and is about 35 years old, whose name the police withheld, said he hit the boy because the minor called him a dirty beggar and uneducated.

Ramos said they are waiting for the mother of the victim to come to the WCPD office, so charges for frustrated homicide can be filed against the suspect, who is now detained at the lock-up cell of the Station 1.*JSS
