Make our day, file suits: Ortiz
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Salvador Benedicto Mayor Jose Max Ortiz reacted yesterday to threats that suits will be filed against those who own rest houses and structures located in the multiple use zone of the Northern Negros Natural Park in his town by saying, “Make our day”.

“They can file a suit any time, we welcome their move, so that we will know once and for all who is right,” he said.

The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources has issued cease-and-desist orders to owners of structures within the NNNP, including Ortiz.moremoremore

P240M approved
for Bacolod roads

Bacolod Rep. Evelio Leonardia announced yesterday that a P240-million tourism road construction project for the improvement of the Bacolod roads leading to the Campuestohan Highland Resort, among other areas in Brgy. Granada and Alangilan in Bacolod City, has been approved and will be implemented this year.

In a message delivered for him by his wife, Elsa, at the opening of Campuestohan Highland Resort today, Leonardia also called on Bacoleños to support the resort, hailing it as a trailblazing project that is expected to help boost tourism in the city.

While government usually leads in development by first building roads and bridges in potential growth areas, Campuestohan was developed the other way around, Leonardia said. It was built first by businessman, Ricardo "Cano" Tan and only now is government coming in, he added. moremoremore

‘world class’

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Now is the time to invest in tourist destinations, with the country’s growing economy, Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Maraon Jr said yesterday.

Marañon, who spoke at the opening of the Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City, said tourist arrivals in Negros Occidental have been increasing by 17 to 18 percent annually.

Most of those who visit the province are local tourists, he said.moremoremore
