Silay bizman killed,
wife, child spared
BY SHIELA GELERA

A businessman, who was with his wife and daughter on their way to the Bacolod-Silay Airport, was gunned down by two unidentified men on a motorcycle at about 5:30 a.m. yesterday at Mckinley Street, Panaogao, in Brgy. 4, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Alberto Amazona, 50, of Brgy. 4 in Silay, an agent of the 2Go Company, sustained a lone gunshot wound on his head, and was rushed to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, the police said.

Investigation showed that Amazona was driving his blue multicab with plate number YBZ 476, with his wife Leyne and daughter Kie, when the suspects waylaid them and shot him, Police Officer 3 Randy Zambra, Silay police investigator, said.

The suspects were wearing black helmets and black jackets, and were riding a black XRM motorcycle, Zambra said.

Leyne, who was sitting beside her husband and Kie, who was at the back of the multicab, were not injured, Zambra said.

A cartridge of a .45 caliber pistol was recovered from the crime scene, police records show.

The motive is yet to be determined, but initially, the police believe that the incident is related to business or family problems.

The police said the suspects may also be guns-for-hire.

The body of Amazona was brought to the Manapla Funeral Parlor in Silay and it will be subjected to an auptopsy, Zambra said.*SGG
