Mayor orders clearing of
Capitol area vendors

Several food vendors located at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon in Bacolod City are asking the Bacolod City Government to give them time to transfer to another area where they can continue their business.

June Katalbas, 39, said City Legal Office Enforcement Team head Rey Demisana had informed them of the order of the mayor to clear the area of vendors. They were told that they will be apprehended if caught vending in the area.

She said they went to the government center Tuesday to know if Mayor Monico Puentevella really ordered them to vacate the capitol grounds.

Organic market launched

A mid-week organic vegetable market was launched with a showcase of organic vegetable produce during the Cinco de Noviembre celebration in Silay City yesterday.

The mid-week market will be held every Wednesday by the Brgy. Patag United Organic Farmers Association, Jo Ann Diosa, Silay City high value crop technician, said.

Rosario Villarenia, association president, said the group began in 2010 and was organized by the provincial government through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist. She said they give a certificate of stewardship contract to cultivate and develop the more than 200 hectares of lands in Brgy. Patag in Silay City. Since then, the group had held various seminars and trainings in organic vegetable farming, livestock raising, integrated pest management and good farming practices, she said.

Visayas to have first wind farm

ILOILO CITY - Visayas will have its very first wind farm once the Trans-Asia Renewable Energy Corporation completes the 54-MW San Lorenzo Wind Farm Project in Guimaras province by the end of November, a government press release said.
