A 28-year-old woman succumbed to 21 stab wounds on her neck, chest and back inflicted by her 71-year-old alleged boyfriend at an eatery in Purok Mabinuligon, Barangay Mansilingan in Bacolod City, at about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The fatality, whose name the DAILY STAR withheld on request of her family, was bleeding profusely when she was rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead on arrival, Senior Insp. Neil Exaltado, Police Station 7 chief, said yesterday.
The suspect, whose name the police also withheld surrendered to the Bacolod City Police Office headquarters, Exaltado said.
The man, who is married and has children, told the police that he and the victim had been in a relationship for 11 years, but he suspected that she had an affair with someone else.
Investigation showed that the woman was on her way to an eatery to get food leftovers for her pigs when the old man fired at her, but she was not hit, Exaltado said.
He said the man then chased her, and stabbed her with a knife several times, in a manner that showed he was very “angry” and had the intention to kill her.
The body of the woman was brought to the Abe Funeral Homes in Bacolod, while charges for murder are being readied against the elderly man, Exaltado also said.*SGG
