UFL FA LEAGUE CUP
Ceres-La Salle FC stun Global, 2-1

With only 10 players left with about 20 minutes remaining in the match, Ceres- La Salle FC stood their ground and repelled  the  attacks  of  Global FC to clinch a high  position in the United Football League via a 2-1 triumph over the reigning UFL titlist in the Football Alliance League Cup championship at Rizal Memorial pitch in Manila last night.

Ceres forward Juani Guirado was handed his second yellow card in the match on the 74th minute following a goalmouth collision with Global goalkeeper Patrick Deyto.

Jubilation came early for the Bacolod -based team managed by Leo Rey Yanson, when Korean player Kim Jin Ho headed the icebreaker on the first minute.

Another header gave Ceres its second marker 20 minutes later courtesy of Adrian Gallardo.

Former Global player Carli De Murga, who now dons the Ceres Jersey, turned his excitement to play against his former team into pain after he went down on an apparent knee injury on the 7th minute and was carried out of the field on a stretcher.

Earlier, Loyola Meralco Sparks prevailed over Pachanga Diliman FC, 3-2 for third place.

The Global offensives were engineered by Misagh Bahadoran,  Izo Elhabib and Mart Hartmann, who, after a series of attempts, finally connected on a Bahadoran pass on the 69th minute.

Global pursued its pressure and made at least five more attempts, including on the 4th of the five-minute added time in the final half when goalkeeper Michael Casas denied Hartmann's desperate attempt for an equalizer.

Past midway in the second half, Gallardo displayed more intensity with his two attempts and an assist but they missed the target. *AVDC
