California team at Calvary

A team from Rock Harbor Christian Fellowship in Morro Bay, California is in Bacolod City and is helping the Calvary Chapel Home ministry until Thursday.

The team members have gone to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital to visit and minister to patients. They also gave out gift bags full of goodies and necessities to them.

They have also gone on a live radio broadcast at DYVS, and held Bible studies for the men and women in the Handumanan community and ministered to the children.

They also held a movie outreach with the community and gave out gift bags.

A ministry outreach was also held at the Felisa Elementary School and a three-day Vacation Bible School for the Calvary Kids.

Members of the team are Mitos Rightmyer, Pamela Schlitz, Brandie Bledsaw, Rett Meisser, Bobby Chapa, Brenda Daley, Antone Bledsaw, Alma McCarty, Alice Turpin and Kayla Hansen.*

Sagay marks
Children’s Month

Sagay City in Negros Occidental is celebrating the 22nd National Children's Month, led by the Council for the Welfare of Children, and several activities have been lined up for the event, a press release from the city said.

In his State of the Children's Address at the city gymnasium, Sagay Mayor Alfredo Marañon III yesterday said the words of national hero Jose Rizal, "The youth is the hope of the motherland", cannot be overemphasized because, truly, they are the hope of this country, the press release also said.

He enumerated the programs for the protection of the children, and thanked those who partnered with the City in their development and protection.

Sangguniang Panlungsod councilor Victoria Uychiat spoke on the role of parents in the development of each child, and Schools Division superintendent, Evelyn de Juan, said a child who lives with love, will be a devoted son, daughter, husband or wife; and if their rights are respected, they will become law-abiding citizens.

Meanwhile, schoolchildren highlighted the 10 rights of the child by carrying streamers inscribed with them in Hiligaynon and reciting them. Bato High School Bantay Bata members performed a dance number, and those from the SNHS did a tandem storytelling, the press release also said.

Rev. Fr. Aurelius Pepino led the prayer for the children and parents, and the dancing was led by Charity Lobioso, with the Suyac Junior Eco Patrollers and members of the working committee. Other activities were the “Children’s Art Revolutions” featuring the Balay sang Pintura (visual arts), Balay sang Entablado (performing arts) and Balay sang Estorya (storytelling), intensive training on responsible parenthood, daycare center visual aids exhibits, search for daycare King and Queen 2014, and a cultural show. The program ended with a community singing of "Bulahanka Bata".
