Job’s fair ongoing at mall
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Thousands of applicants are expected to come for the two-day job bridging activity until today at the Robinsons Place shopping mall in Dumaguete City.

Dumaguete Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria led the ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday. The project is spearheaded by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, headed by Negros Oriental provincial chief, Floro Ringca, and held in cooperation with the city Public Employment Service Office, headed by Ma. Socorro Mira.

Mira said the job bridging project aims to bring together the business process outsourcing companies from key cities to hold a job’s fair in Dumaguete. Applicants are either hired or interviewed on the spot, with thousands of call center seats available from 15 BPOs from Dumaguete, Bacolod, Cebu, and Manila, she said.

Some of the BPOs in the event are SPI, Qualfon and TeleTech in Dumaguete, Convergys in Cebu, Citem in Manila, Teleperformer, and even Smiles, a new company based in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, whose international employers were on hand to oversee the hiring or interviewing of applicants.

Mira said she is thankful for the yearly event as it gives not just the residents of Dumaguete but nearby areas, the opportunity to land a job.*JFP
