Organic fest
tomorrow, road closed

There will be a temporary road closure for the duration of the 9th Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival hosted by the province of Negros Occidental at the Capitol Grounds in Bacolod City, Nov. 19-23.

The Bacolod City government has approved the road closure of Aguinaldo Street – North Capitol Road up to 10th Street – Aguinaldo, and Lacson Street – North Capitol Road to Aguinaldo; closure is from November 13-26, it said.

There will also be a half road closure of Lacson Street-Robinson’s Bacolod on Nov. 22, from 5 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to give way for the fun run activity, it added.

Booths are set up for display of products from the different organic producers and organizations, agencies, industries in and outside of the province.

The festival will feature organic product displays, organic food showcase, lectures and seminars on organic farming in designated areas, farm tours participated in by delegates and various organizations from the different towns and cities of the province and from the neighbouring provinces; there are also delegates coming from other regions of the country.

Organizing partners of the festival are the Organik na Negros! Organic Producers and Retailers Association (ONOPRA), Department of Education, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Agriculture, Negros Island Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (NISARD), National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Dept. of Agriculture, Dept. of Agrarian Reform, Sugar Regulatory Administration, Bureau of Plant Industry, Dept. of Trade and Industry (DTI), among others, and other private groups and individuals.*
