Mayor wants nominees
for chairman of Baciwa
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella is questioning why he was presented only one nominee when he is supposed to choose a replacement for Lawrence Villanueva, chairman of the Board of Director of the Bacolod City Water District, whose term expires on December 31.

Puentevella yesterday said he wrote Baciwa a letter asking about the other three nominees. He claimed that director/Board secretary Marichi Ramos disqualified the three others and only recognized Villanueva.

“I think I am the one supposed to choose by law but only one was recognized. The Board should have given me four nominees to choose from,” he said. moremoremore

More sugarcane
industry investors seen
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Sugar Regulatory Administrator Ma. Regina Bautista yesterday said more investors in the sugarcane industry are expected with the participation of the Department of Trade and Industry in the preparation of its 2014 to 2024 roadmap for development.

The DTI’s Board of Investments sponsored a Visayas Stakeholders Consultation on the sugarcane roadmap for 2014-2024 at the Planta Hotel in Bacolod City attended by industry stakeholders yesterday.

This is the first time that the DTI has gotten involved, which is significant because now the sugarcane industry will be included in its road shows for investors here and abroad, she said. moremoremore
