58 Caritas households
to be energized

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Fifty-eight low cost housing units of Caritas Phase I in Barangay Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City, will be energized starting tomorrow at ceremonies to be attended by city and the Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative officials.

Expected to attend are Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria, the Noreco 2 board of directors, headed by Fe Marie Dicen-Tagle, and general manager Dionefred Macahig, and barangay officials, who have been making follow-ups for the completion of the project.

The energization was held pending for several months, in spite of the approval of the Noreco Board, due to other priorities. It was fast-tracked upon the assumption of Macahig, former finance manager of the electric cooperative.

The project costs P1.9 million and the Caritas Phase II, also in Bajumpandan may also be energized, and another housing site developed, next year.

Meanwhile, the Purok 3-Sampaguita Drive in Batinguel is scheduled for enrgization today.

Noreco 2 is beating the deadline to energize at least 19 sitios in its coverage area before the year ends, as part of the energization of 44 sitios, funded by the National Electrification Administration, worth P30.8 million, under the Sitio Electrification Program of the government.

Macahig said he hopes to overshoot the target of 19 sitios with five ongoing constructions in Pamplona. He said a local contractor is helping the cooperative reach its target as the winning bidder with 22 sitios being outsourced for the electrification program. Noreco 2 is allotted 178 sitios in its coverage area under the SIP.*JG
