MANILA - The Philippine Economic Zone Authority closed the first 10 months of the year by approving P153.94-billion worth of investments.
The approved investments increased the job generation inside PEZA economic zones nationwide by 14.28 percent to 1,148,469 jobs in January-October 2014 from 1,004,914 in the same period of 2013.
PEZA Spokesperson Elmer San Pascual said the increment in employment in the first 10 months of the year was attributed to business process outsourcing (BPO) companies in PEZA-accredited IT parks and buildings which are hastening their job generation.

as site for BacoLaodiat fest, too
A resolution requesting the organizers of the 2015 BacoLaodiat Festival on Feb. 19 to 22, 2015 to include the Bacolod City Chinatown Center (Capitol Shopping Center) as one of the festival sites for the celebration, was approved by the Baoclod Sangguniang Panlungsod Friday.
The resolution authored by Councilor Sonya Verdeflor saidthat by virtue of City Ordinance 576, S.of 2011, known as “The Bacolod City Chinatown Center Ordinance”, the area covering the whole of Capitol Shopping Center was created as the Bacolod City Chinatown Center in honor of the Filipino-Chinese brothers whose generous contributions and investments have resulted to the economic development of Bacolod City.


‘Business confidence
to continue’
MANILA -- The Palace said it expects business confidence in the Philippines to continue in the coming years after a new survey found high expectations for the Philippines.
The survey shows a rosy picture of business confidence for the Philippines in the last quarter of 2014.
The survey was conducted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said Saturday.
