Bago, St. Scho,
Don Bosco  win DFL title

The Dynamic Football League 3rd Conference ended Saturday with Don Bosco Technical Institute winning title in the Under 11 division, St. Scholastica’s Academy capturing the crown in the Ladies Under 17, and Ramon Torres National High School of Bago City bagging the championship in the Under 15 category.

After finishing first runner-up behind Trinity Christian School in the 2nd Conference, the young Bosconians exacted revenge Saturday and dethroned Trinity, 3-2, with two goals from Humphrey Bacatan and Jose Maria Belandres.

Head coach Jose Reymando Baldava said it was not an easy win for his young wards but he always told them to enjoy the game while giving their best inside the field.

“Last time the kids we’re taking it too seriously so this time, we told them to have more fun and even joked with them before the start of the game,” Baldava said, adding that the Bosconian community is their source of inspiration.

For coach Ronald Allan Treyes of Trinity, losing the U11 crown to Don Bosco simply means that the championship this time is not meant for them.

“Everything has a purpose. The kids tried but somehow, they were not able to showcase their best. Maybe it is because of the heat, but then again, there always a lot of room for improvements,” Treyes said.

Both Baldva and Treyes were thankful to Dynamic Football League for organizing the age group competition. They said that a tournament like the DFL is a big help in the football development program of the province.

In Ladies U17, St. Scholastica’s Academy blanked UNO-R, 4-0, to capture the title.

Ann Sofia Tison scored two goals for the champion team while Nicole Carmena Gonzaga and Dominique Cajili had one goal each.

In U15 division, Ramon Torres National High School from Bago City beat West Negros University, 3-1, to bag the championship.

Scoring the goals for Bago were Hanz Aguilar, John Leo Gumban, and Alemar Ambong.

In the battle for third place, UNO-R beat WNU 1-0 in U11, while St. John’s Institute relegated to fourth place University of St. La Salle, 7-2.

USLS salvaged the third place honors in U15 division by winning against Dr. V. F. Gustilo Memorial High School, 3-2.

Individual awardees for U11 were: Humphrey Bacatan (Don Bosco) as Most Valuable Player; Syreal Magbanua (Trinity Christian School), best striker; Isiah Teruel (Trinity), best midfield; Fitz Kimuel Cortez (Don Bosco), best defender; and Isiah Lord Pinuela (Don Bosco) best goalkeeper.
