The Securities and Exchange Commission is conducting an awareness campaign to caution the public against the alarming incidents of pyramiding and ponzi schemes in the Philippines.

SEC head office director Jose Aquino said yesterday that he considers these operations in the Philippines quite alarming because such scams that have originated in other countries are also operating internationally.

Due to limited resources, he said, they are partnering with people who can help them disseminate the information to the public through education campaign.

SEED fund released in Sagay

A P1.5 million Capital SEED Fund was released to 219 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program qualified beneficiaries from the 11 Sagay City barangays under the Sustainable Livelihood Program – Bottoms Up Budgeting of the Department of Social Welfare and Development

The cash assistance ranged from a minimum of P5,400 to a maximum of P10,000, depending on the project proposals submitted by the beneficiaries, a Sagay City press release said.

City Social Welfare Development Officer, Concepcion Javellana told the beneficiaries to be grateful especially to the Almighty for all these blessings and warned the beneficiaries to utilize the fund only for which it is intended.

of mining exploration permit

No amount of protest will prevent mining companies from exploring areas of southern Negros for mineral deposits.

Macallum Phils. Inc. recently informed the Negos Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan that it has a permit for the exploration of copper, gold and other related minerals in barangays Asia, Bulwangan and Daug in Hinobaan.

The notice of application for mineral explorations was endorsed by Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to the SP Committee on Environment and Natural Resources for appropriate action.
